Our trip to the Valley of the Kings had ended. Now it was time to visit the Karnak Temple.
The temple is the main place of worship for the Theban Triad, with the god Amun as its head. There have been around thirty pharaohs who have contributed to its building; each adding something to the temple complex. Though the temple is dedicated to the Triad (Amun, Mut and their son Montu), what is open to the public is that of Amun-Re. We were really excited to visit it. It is believed to be the second most visited historical place in Egypt, coming in after the Giza pyramid complex.
Here is what we saw of the structure as we neared the entrance.

We were greeted by a row of ram-headed sphinx statues.

Here is us just about to enter the complex.

Once inside, we followed our guide to explore the various halls and structures in the complex. Here are some pictures from the Hypostyle hall.

Here is us at the colossal status of Ramses II.

Here are some of the other structures that we saw on the tour.

Here is the statue of Khepri, the scarab-faced god.

Finally it was time to head off to our next destination, the Luxor Temple.
