Our holiday trip to Singapore had concluded and it was now time to explore Siem Reap in Cambodia. The most famous places to visit in Siem Reap are the various temples; the most famous of them being Angkor Wat. The first temples that we visited were however Banteay Srei and then Banteay Samre. This happened on the first day of our trip.
Banteay Srei is a 10th century Hindu temple. It is dedicated to the Shiva and Parvati. This is a temple that was not built by the king. Rather its construction is credited to the courtiers named Vishnukumara and Yajnavaraha. You can read more about the temple here in interested.
Here are some of the photos that I took when we visited:

It was time to move on to see the Banteay Samre temple.
The Banteay Samre temple was built in the early 12th century. It was named after the ancient people of Indochina. Here are some of the pictures that I captured from our visit:

Being the first day of our arrival in Siem Reap, we decided to take it easy and headed back to our hotel. The following days would have us visiting the more famous temples. Those I will cover in upcoming posts.
