Now I have heard of titles like “Help! The Aliens are Taking Over!” What’s with Parakeets taking over šŸ˜€ ?

Alexandrine Parakeets are not uncommon in India. But they are usually seen in the northern parts of India. What is seen in the south is usually the Rose-ringed Parakeets. So when I start seeing Alexandrine Parakeets visiting the tree opposite my house balcony almost on a regular basis for a few weeks, it is indeed time to shout “Help! The Parakeets are taking over!” šŸ˜€ . Don’t you agree?

It is rumoured that there must have been a set of escapees from the pet trade around Bangalore. These must have managed to successfully breed in the wild. There presence had over the years been limited to the north of the city. But seeing them being sighted regularly around my place is a clear indication that they have multiplied in good numbers and have also spread across the city. I do not know if it is good or bad. But it was a good surprise for me. Here are some photos that I took of an individual:

Here is a short video I took of it feeding on the tree opposite my house balcony:

Interested in knowing the other birds around where I stay? Here is my post on observations based on mostly “arm-chair” birding from my house balcony.
