Rain Quails are mostly heard and not seen. And this too happens mostly during the raining season as it then that they breed.

I was on a visit to the Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve along with my friend Rahul. As we moved within the reserve and the areas around it, we surprised to hear the call of the Rain Quails from various parts. What was it doing calling so late in the year? We must have seen/heard it from atleast 10 different parts. I remembered the time that I had first managed to see a Rain Quail a few years back. It had been a real struggle. Well, hearing and sighting them in this trip was proving much more easier. So it is fair to say that it was “raining” Rain Quails πŸ˜€ .
