The Jain Temples at Halebidu; the second blog in my three part series of the lesser known historical sites in and around Belur and Halebidu. You can read the first one here.

This is a gem that is less than a kilometer away from the famous Hoysaleswara Temple at Halebidu. Unless someone tells you about it or have done some active research on the surrounding sites at Halebidu, the chances are that you would not know of its existence. The complex has three Jain temples (also called Basadis) that are dedicated to the Jain Tirtankars Parshvanatha, Shantinatha and Adinatha. The temples were constructed in the 12th century during the Hoysala empire.

When we visited we were the only visitors except for another couple. We found the place very peaceful and well maintained. It was calming just to walk around the temple complex. If you are visiting Halebidu, then this should definitely be included in your itinerary.
